Hazardous goods management
Shipping, transport and ADR/ADN/RID documents in one tool

Whether the goods are flammable liquids such as fuels or mineral oils, explosive chemicals or other dangerous goods - the handling of dangerous goods places special demands on our customers. After all, the transport of dangerous goods is subject to strict legal regulations to ensure the safety of people and the environment. We are very pleased to be able to support you with customized software solutions in dealing with this challenge on a daily basis.

Transporting hazardous goods
caution is advised, obligations must be observed.

The safe transport of hazardous goods requires careful compliance with complex, regularly changing regulations, such as the ADR, ADN or RID. Vehicles should not be overloaded during loading. Countless shipping documents must be filled out, masses of documentation must be carried. In addition, it is crucial that all persons involved in the handling of dangerous goods always maintain an overview and, come what may, pull together - starting at the loading point and continuing through the drivers to the consignee. After all, incorrect labeling or incomplete documentation can lead to legal consequences and compromise the safety of the transport. This is precisely where shared platforms for handling dangerous goods transports come into play.

  • High personnel costs in the absence of automation

  • Challenging compliance with filler obligations

  • Fines for violating legal requirements

Frequently asked questions

Hazardous goods are substances or objects which, due to their nature, may

  • especially in connection with the transport on public traffic routes pose a danger to people, animals and the environment.
  • The term covers various types of materials, such as explosive substances, flammable liquids or radioactive gases. These and many other goods entail different risks, which is why there are legal requirements for handling dangerous goods

When transporting hazardous goods, the following documents, among others, must be correct and complete:

  • Transport documents. These documents provide information about the type, quantity, labeling or classification of the dangerous goods. They are used for identification and tracking during transport and must be able to be provided by all parties involved (shipper, carrier and consignee).
  • Packaging documents. These documents contain information on how the dangerous goods were packaged - including the safety checks that were performed.
  • Transport permits and approvals. Depending on the type of dangerous goods and the means of transport, special permits may be required, such as an ADR certificate for road transport or an RID document for shipping by rail

ADR is the agreement concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by road. It was developed under the guidance of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and applies in the member states of the UNECE. It contains provisions on the classification, packaging and labeling of dangerous goods in road transport. Drivers of hazardous goods vehicles must carry an ADR certificate.

The abbreviation RID stands for "Règlement concernant le transport international ferroviaire des marchandises dangereuses", i.e. "Regulations concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by rail". RID is often referred to as "ADR/RID" together with ADR and regulates the international transport of dangerous goods by both road and rail.

ADN is the abbreviation for "European Agreement concerning the international carriage of hazardous goods by inland waterways". It regulates the transport of dangerous goods on rivers or canals in the member states of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). Just like the other agreements, it contains requirements for handling dangerous goods before, during and after shipment.
